Dear Wildflowers,
How has your Monday been? And your week?
I have had many beautiful moments this week along with the challenges. But a resounding lesson that I am, once again, realizing; is that I am but a reflector of God’s glory. I am nothing on my own. I have attempted to figure out and control a lot of things this week and it has been exhausting. Controlling and figuring things out on my own was not a burden I was made to carry. I can’t do anything in my own strength to do life ‘well’. I can only draw close to God. Behold Him. Bask in His glory – His goodness, love and Light. And this will transform me into what He has designed me to be.
I was shown a beautiful analogy that has given me a deeper understanding of this.
Imagine a land full of inky blackness. So dark you can feel it. Not a glimmer of light anywhere. Total blindness.
And then, a veil-less lamp turns on – It’s light a beacon.
All of those people that turn towards that light, or close to that light – will be seen. Will reflect a little of the lamp’s light. The closer we are to the light, the more we will reflect its glow.
It is the same with us and God.
He is the Light of the world.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Anything good in us is simply a reflection of Him. Like the moon, reflecting the sun. We are nothing. He is everything.
A reminder I desperately needed to hear. I can’t do anything of myself to be a good person. To gain status or be ‘liked’ by others. I can’t be a good ‘example’ on my own, or even ‘do the right thing’ in my own strength. Without God I am only doing those things to glorify myself. I need only draw closer to God.
His light will reveal my unworthiness. And that feels yuck. But the closer I am to Him, the more I behold Him. The more I will be changed into His likeness.
“But we all, with uncovered face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
After a week of distraction with day and night activities, lack of sleep, and pouring out. I was exhausted. I truly think satan works overtime to ‘blind’ us to God’s light – to keep us in darkness. It’s really important that no matter what comes our way, we are close to Jesus. Close to His light. And constantly remembering we are nothing of ourselves. There is so much peace in recognizing our helplessness without God. And coming to Him, being loved by Him. And then feeling so unworthy – and in that place – being used to reflect a little glimmer of the glory of God.
“…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
It’s not about us.
It’s all about Him.
And it’s in this place, of peace and rest, that I have found whimsy this week.
With wildflower whimsy,

P.S. My favourite quote this week was once again written by Sally Clarkson. It absolutely resonated with me, in my efforts to ‘keep all the plates spinning’ – as the saying goes:
“…if I am determined not to manipulate circumstances, not to try and figure out answers, I need to be sure I am not depending on myself or on idols to provide. Instead, I have to seek Him as a treasure, waiting for Him, following Him, and being still enough to listen to Him. ” – Sally Clarkson
When pressure mounts in the weeks, especially leading up to the end of the year. There is so much going on. But I want to do this season in Jesus, filled with peace and open for whimsy moments!
What ways have you found whimsy this week? What’s been keeping you going?
Staying in the weight of the present moment, watching my children play, and soaking it in has brought me so much joy and whimsy this week.
And listening for the God prompts to solutions to my dilemmas. Some of them have been so fun and out of the box I wouldn’t have thought of them on my own. And some I need to take more time to listen and unpack what they might actually look like in my days.
Sending love, and a reminder to draw close to Jesus and let Him transform you into His likeness. Be a reflector of Him to the world, and a little beacon of light for others. We don’t know the results, we trust that to Him. Our part is to be close to Jesus.
