Drizzling rain and whimsy

Happy Monday wildflowers,

What weather are you facing in your life right now? I’ve always held onto the saying that ‘there’s no excuse not to go outside, only poor clothing choices’. What metaphorical clothing protection can you place around you to keep going well in the weather/season you are facing this week?

This post will be shorter, ’tis been a week for me and my mental tank is ready for some sleep. But I felt the urge to put pen to paper this morning and jotted down some poetic thoughts.

Gardening in the Rain

As the rain clouds drizzle
relentlessly down
and sunshine has said
its goodbyes

I pull on my rainboots
don a warm coat
And trek to my gardens
outside.

Raindrops glisten
fresh on my skin
as seeds I plant
in the ground

I smile at the dirt
where transformation hides
Excitement brewing
for this to occur

The mud, it’s everywhere
But I really don’t mind
The wet has never bothered me.

When I’m out with my plants
and hands full of dirt
my soul gives me whispers
of glee

For life can get muddy,
relentlessly storm
And keep us soaked,
wet to the skin.

But it’s in these seasons
of seeds, rain and mud
That the true making of us
begins.

I hope whatever weather you are facing, you are able to find peace, rest, and shelter with Jesus.

P.S. My daughter gathered some ripper quotes for me to share with you this week. I had a little laugh!

“The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem.” – Captain Jack Sparrow

“I am not lost, for I know where I am. But however, where I am may be lost.” – Pooh Bear

“A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities.” J. R. R. Tolkien

And this one:

“Sometimes the grass is greener ’cause it’s fake.” – unknown

This song has been a huge comfort to me over the years, I let the words just wash over me when I sing them or when I hear them. A balm to the soul. The version sung by Jess Ray is so lovely. If you can spare a quiet moment, look it up and have a listen:

“His eye is on the Sparrow”.

1. Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Chorus
I sing because I’m happy—
I sing because I’m free—
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

2. “Let not your heart be troubled.”
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubt and fear.
Though by the path He leadeth,
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me..

3. Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him;
From care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

I was able to purchase some chai syrup this week, and what a decadent treat it has been to add some punch to my afternoon cuppas! Alchemy Organic Mumbai Chai Elixir 750ml – Grand’Cru Coffee

In what ways have you ‘tasted and seen that the Lord is good’ this week!? I hope that if your weather is rainy and drizzly, whimsy finds you sitting cozy, with a mug of something warm and yummy in hand.

Much love and prayers for whimsy, Steph xo
