Happy Monday Wildflowers!
Has everyone had a good week?
Mine could be likened to a rollercoaster ride. The slow tick tick tick of the carriage cart as you make your way to the top of a crazy and seriously fast paced whirlwind of ups and downs and twists and turns, and all you can do is hold on and trust that people have been on this ride before and survived – so potentially – you will too!
I will keep this post short and sweet, as I feel I am still in the thick of sorting my thoughts and finding my ground after getting off the rollercoaster.
This morning I was prompted to remember that God is my Father and I am His little girl, and I am not meant to carry heavy burdens. In the aftermath of a busy and rather intense week, it is time for me to recenter with Him. To evaluate my world and cut back on any areas He is prompting me to. He wants me to live life full and free and not weighed down by anything extra or too much for me.
Some questions I will be prayerfully asking myself in this coming week.
- Where is my soul at?
- Is there anything weighing me down?
- In what ways can I cut back in my life currently? What can I delegate?
- Are there any areas in my life I am doing more than He asks of me?
- Are there any ‘idols’ of my heart, people/goals/habits/life choices/busyness/culture, that I am putting as valuable above the simple God given priorities that God wants for me?
- Am I doing anything in my life to try and prove my value to others instead of centering my worth on Jesus?
- In what ways can I add more quiet to my days?
I want to give these to God and ask Him to prompt me in any areas that need to be shifted or changed so that I can live my life with soul peace and rest. Centered in whatever storm may come. Having a firm foundation so that my soul can be quiet and content no matter what is going on around me.
The pockets of whimsy that have filled my soul this week have been sitting, talking, laughing and bantering with friends, family and my children and my children’s friends. Usually with food, tea or chocolate involved. A reminder to me that relationships are truly the most important things in a soul filled, quality life. And that I get to create these precious moments by initiating, making tea, setting out a plate of treats or cookies with friends and/or family around and sitting back and soaking it all in.
If there anything to cut back on in life, for me, it’s usually whatever is keeping me from being able to do relationships well. Relationships with God, family, friends and even strangers. I want to live a life that is interruptible in the best way!
How about you? Do you need to have a quiet moment to reassess your life and priorities? What are the most valuable things in life for you? Are these things aligned with God’s priorities for your life?
Thanks for reading friends, I hope this week brings whimsy and hope and peace.
With wildflower whimsy,
Steph xo
P.S. Quote of the week:
“… my comfort is not in who I am, or how well I am doing, or in what I accomplish. My strength is in the One who is strong. My miracles are dependent on the God who threw the stars and galaxies into place. Always, this has been my success – He is adequate, and I am dependent on Him. I am weak, but He is strong … in my smallness I find rest, quiet, comfort. Trusting in His provision, not my striving, will accomplish His will. “ – Sally Clarkson
I tried an iced decaf latté with brown sugar with my husband last weekend, and my goodness – it’s a little decadent and I’m so here for it! I’ve been adding these into my afternoon tea times and it’s been a treat. How about you? Have you tried anything a bit extra yummy this week?! Let’s keep our focus on the gifts of whimsy that God has available to us every day! With love, Steph xo
